VERPA BENCH

Verpa (2025) is a bench made from Norwegian black alder with a woven seat in paper yarn. It features two separate seats that invite use from both sides and can be placed in the center of a room. The bench has a recurring design element with square components tilted at 45 degrees, creating a light and stable structure. The design draws inspiration from traditional elements while challenging conventions around seating zones and joinery. Visually, Verpa evokes associations with Japanese architecture and roof structures, while the tilted components challenge traditional furniture design and provide unexpected spatial experiences.
